Today a project of mine was down for some time, until I fixed it with a click of a button.
I was browsing my domains in Cloudflare and noticed that the A records in a domain were not proxied.
Then I just clicked the toggle under "Proxy status" and that was it.
The application was down.
The error I got was:
Turns out my encryption mode on SSL/TLS in Cloudflare was set to "Automatic" (which is the default).
To solve it I just had to click "Full (strict)" on Current encryption mode in SSL/TLS Overview.
The only possible drawback that can happen is if the Let's Encrypt certificate fails to renew the site will be down.
So if you encounter the same issue, remember to:
-
Keep your SSL certificate on auto-renewal
-
Go to your domain in Cloudflare
-
Navigate to SSL/TLS in the sidebar
-
Select "Full (strict)" encryption mode
And you'll be good to go!
